"I came to Killooleet because of how much it fits in with my philosophy of teaching - meeting kids where they are, getting them to take risks. What I didn't realize is how much it would teach me about working with kids. I feel I've been a better teacher this year because of last summer." Sean, Delaware
has a variety of staff openings for the summer of 2008. All counselors run an activity area and help out in a cabin. They become an integral part of a creative, educational community of 100 campers and 45 staff. The season is June 19 through August 19, 2008 for staff which includes a week of staff orientation before campers arrive.
In addition to counselors, Killooleet is looking for a registered nurse to be a part of our health care team. You would work closely with another nurse and our on-call doctor. Providing first aid and dispensing regular medications leaves you time to enjoy living in the green mountains of Vermont. Housing is provided and having your camp age children join you at camp is part of our reimbursement package. Interested applicants should contact Kate Seeger.
We are accepting applications for the summer of 2008 and are looking for men and women who are interested in working with children in a cabin as well as teaching in an activity area. We have openings in a variety of activities: sports, waterfront, video, ceramics, gymnastics, nature, fabric arts, electronics, stained glass, archery, music (folk and rock) and jewelry/silversmithing. Skills such as mountain biking, rock climbing and martial arts are valuable. What skills and hobbies are you most interested in sharing with children? If you would like an application, contact Kate Seeger. Please mention activities you are particularly interested in teaching and why you want to work at summer camp. Include your Post Office address and your telephone number.

me as a camper, Killooleet meant: companionship, relating to a variety of people, learning independence in a protected environment, developing special interests, broadening experiences, finding new directions, wholesome fun and learning to cooperate with others while participating in healthy competition -- all adding up to memories that last a lifetime. My role as a staff member is to do everything I can to make Killooleet as good for others as it was for me." Ben, NJ

eight weeks at Killooleet were fantastic. ... Killooleet provided a great community atmosphere that enabled me to work with children to the best of my ability. I found that I developed an increased capacity to learn not only from my peers on the staff but also from the kids. ... Being at this camp was life changing and unforgettable. I can't think of another place I would rather be in the summer." Christine, Montreal
am impressed by the great system you have created at camp. Children (and staff) felt safe enough to challenge themselves, try new things, share memories (such as life stories), make strong friendships, and even make mistakes. Life was intense and fun at Killooleet. I learned a lot about caring for and communicating with children of different ages and adults. " Nini, Hanover, NH
"Summers as a counselor at Killooleet were my best two summers ever, I have enjoyed it so much. One thing that I find particular interesting is that no day goes by without thinking of Killooleet. Some days it is just a couple of seconds, other days I tell stories to other people about how life is at Killooleet." MJ, the Netherlands
